It was this $13.75 bottle of Ferngrove Great Southern sauvignon blanc semillion 2020 that took out the crown for best-value wine.“This producer has been around for a while and is consistently making wines across all price points,” he said of the drop.
“But the bar has been raised in recent times with some excellent, value-for-money wines like this guy. Really hits the spot for this style of wine and super value under $15.”
A $7 bottle of white also features in the magazine for anyone looking for the ultimate bargain drop.
“When you can get a decent drop for less than $15 in some cases, you have to pinch yourself,” he said.
Jordan said the 2021 tasting was the largest and most difficult yet, sampling more than 750 wines overall. There is something for every taste, from special occasion bubbles to Australian rosés Jordan says are as good as their European counterpart.
