The summertime hype and fright is definitely crawling up the spines of horror fans everywhere ahead of the theatrical release of the latest cinematic adaptation of Stephen King’s famous classic short story The Boogeyman. Per a report from Collider, the final teaser for the film has dropped from 20th Century Studios along with a brand new promotional poster showcasing the captivating terror that awaits audiences everywhere next month.
The Boogeyman is based on acclaimed horror author Stephen King’s short story of the same name. It’s the latest addition to dozens upon dozens of his iconically frightening tales to be brought to the big screen. This one is helmed by Rob Savage, who previously directed and co-wrote horror flicks Host (2020) and Dashcam (2021). Writers on the script included Mark Heyman (The Skeleton Twins), along with Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, a collaborating duo who worked on other films like John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place (2018) and more recently the sci-fi action thriller 65 starring Adam Driver that released this past March. Producers on the project are Dan Cohen, alongside Shawn Levy and Dan Levine who worked together on other films like The Adam Project (2022). Starring in The Boogeyman is a slew of A-list talent such as Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets), Chris Messina (Air), Vivien Lyra Blair (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and David Dastmalchian (Dune: Part One).
For those unfamiliar with the original supernatural tale, here is the official synopsis of the upcoming film courtesy of 20th Century Studios:
High school student Sadie Harper and her little sister Sawyer are still reeling from the recent death of their mother. Devastated by his own pain, their father Will, a therapist by profession, gives them neither the support nor the affection that they try to claim from him. When a desperate patient shows up unexpectedly at their house asking for help, they bring in a terrifying entity that preys on the families and feeds on their greatest suffering
The newly released teaser encapsulates the riveting horror to come in the new adaptation, with the Harper family terrorized by an indescribable and dangerous entity that threatens them within their own home, its bloodthirsty growls echoing from every dark corner. A monster “known by many names” that has haunted humans longer than they can remember. This rendition of The Boogeyman, which is set to premiere in theaters everywhere on June 2, is sure to keep audiences gripping their seats from start to finish.

Even More Stephen King’s Epic Scares Coming to Screen
Stephen King’s seemingly endless library of supernatural terror has been dominating the genre almost nonstop for the past several years, and The Boogeyman is just one of even more adaptions to come in the months and years ahead. Some of the biggest horror heavyweights in the industry are clamoring to scoop up the next blood-soaked batch of King projects, and among them are Salem’s Lot by The Conjuring co-creator Gary Dauberman, which has since finished filming but has no release date set yet. There also is James Wan’s adaptation of The Monkey, which recently cast White Lotus alum Theo James in a lead role. He also will be directing a rendition of King’s The Tommyknockers with Roy Lee, who previously co-produced Andy Muschietti’s It: Chapter One (2017) and later Chapter Two (2019). Meanwhile Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill are joining the production of The Life of Chuck, which is being directed by Mike Flanagan.
