In an era of summer hairstyles defined by cropped lengths and minimal styling, this season’s hottest hitter is undoubtedly the Botticelli bob.
From Laura Harrier to Kristen Bell, we’ve seen rise in celebrities rocking an updated take on loose S-curl renaissance waves. For those of us who already have bobs, this look elevates our soft-wave strands to the next level. And for the rest, especially those leaning into the seasonal inclination to chop off your hair, this bob is a beginner’s dream because it is so effortless to style.
“This is a perfect summer look to pack in hydration and minimise hot-tool usage,” says Anthony Cole, a Sebastian Professional international stylist. Prep is as easy as a simple formula of moisturising and volumising products, quick braids, and a smidgen of overnight magic.
“The Botticelli bob is perfect for the ‘on-the-go woman’ because you can prepare it at night and get up in the morning, take out the braids, run your hands through and be on your way,” Cole says.

Depending on the desired volume and your hair’s thickness, you can create the look with two or three braids (the more braids, the more waves, the more structure). If braids aren’t your forte, Cole suggests a two-strand version. “For a two-strand braid, hold two sections of hair in your hands and twist the strands and wrap them around each other,” he says. In the morning, unravel the braids and gently finger comb through the strands.
