This series charts two storylines that are nail-bitingly close to one another but don’t collide until one heck of a finale that includes song, dance and a fair bit of blood.
Express.co.uk looks at the cast of the new series Wolf as several characters tell the thrilling tale of the BBC crime drama.
Jack Caffery – Ukweli Roach
Ukweli said of his character: “He has a disturbed background with a lot of trauma that he tries to hide, which has made his character quite malformed.”
He added: “As clichéd as it sounds, I would describe Jack as a lone wolf. He’s someone who, because of the traumas in his past, has isolated himself and finds comfort in isolation because he can’t be hurt that way. His trauma essentially shaped his whole personality.”
Discussing why viewers should watch Wolf, Ukweli explained deep and complex cases through the parallel series are unique.
They “manipulate time” with one storyline happening faster than the other, but gradually colliding and meeting their culmination.
Ukweli has starred in series such as Blindspot, Grantchester, and The Royals, as well as the acclaimed film Streetdance 3D.
Honey – Sacha Dhawan
Praising writer and producer Megan Gallagher for her writing of the series, Sacha explained: “One of the things I really love about this project is that on paper it might sound like just another crime thriller.
“But what Megan has done so brilliantly is introduce an interesting genre where she combines crime, thriller, horror and even comedy.”
Sacha explained there is an “intensity” towards his violence as well as “violence and crazy scenes.”
Sacha is known for his role in Sherlock, Doctor Who, Line of Duty and Suspect.
Molina – Iwan Rheon
Describing his character, Iwan revealed: “Molina is a bit of a hapless criminal – he’s not the brightest, but he has some great ideas.
“He’s part of a double act with Honey, played by the brilliant Sacha Dhawan, who takes the Anchor-Ferrers family hostage, although he’s probably not the ideal person for this job.”
Molina and Honey form a relationship throughout the series but Iwan explained he felt their love was one-sided.
“Honey is very much the leader and Molina is a bit of a sidekick and goes along with it,” he stated.
Fans may know Iwan for his roles in Game of Thrones, Misfits, and Our Girl.
Oliver Anchor-Ferrers – Owen Teale
Oliver is a self-made and successful businessman, and when speaking about his character, Owen said of Oliver: “He’s made a great success of that and we see him immersed in that lifestyle, which ticks all those boxes.
“He is recovering from a heart transplant so he’s now keen to live every moment he can with his family.
“What is also clear, which I love about him because I don’t get to play many of these parts, is that he and his wife adore each other.”
Owen has starred in Game of Thrones, Torchwood, Robin Hood and The Last Legion.
Matilda Anchor-Ferrers – Juliet Stevenson
Matilda is an upper-middle-class woman from a wealthy family who lives with Oliver and their daughter Lucia and has been less successful and is very troubled.
Speaking of why audiences should watch Wolf, Juliet said: “I think audiences will be hooked on WOLF because you just can’t see where it’s coming from or where it’s going.
“That is, for me, the definition of a great thriller. With some, you can quite often see perhaps who’s being set up, who will turn out to be the killer or the wrongdoer. But here, you really can’t tell. It is extremely thrilling.”
Alongside the main characters, viewers will watch Annes Elwy as Lucia Anchor-Ferrers, Sian Reese-Williams as D.I. Lincoln, Ciarán Joyce as D.I. Prody, Kai Owen as D.I Matthews and Anthony Webster as Ivan Penderecki
Other actors include Gethin Alderman as Minnet Kable, Kezia Burrows as Veronica, Emily Adara as Sophie, Karl Johnson as Colonel Frink, Tim Treloar as Walking Man, Zadeiah Campbell-Davies as Emily, Gwïon Morris Jones as Hugo, Emma Cooney as Bethany, Hywel Simons as Robbie and Amanda Drew as Driscoll.
