Peacock has unveiled several first look photos of The Continental: From the World of John Wick, a miniseries that serves as a prequel to the John Wick movies. Coming to Peacock in September, the series follows Colin Woodell as a younger version of Winston Scott, the character played by Ian McShane in the movie series. Other younger versions of familiar characters are also featured, as are original characters, including Mel Gibson as Cormac. You can see these characters and more in the first look images below.

The show was developed for Peacock by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons; the trio wrote the series with Ken Kristensen. The cast of The Continental also includes Ayomide Adegun as a young Charon, played by the late Lance Reddick in the four films. Other cast members include Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate, Ben Robson, Peter Greene, Jeremy Bobb, and Katie McGrath.

“The showrunners actually came, we heard a lot of pitches and we were debating whether or not we wanted to do a similar timeline of John Wick or an alternate timeline,” producer Erica Lee has said of how The Continental came together. “We felt like doing a prequel, doing an alternate timeline gave us a lot of flexibility just in running parallel tracks. But also what I think people love so much about John Wick and the John Wick world are learning about the hotels and the Easter eggs.”

Lee continued, “We give so little about each character and about the hotel in each movie that I think people were really excited to learn more and dig deeper into The Continental like, what does the cleaner there look like? What is the staff like? How do you get into The Continental? How are the gold coins made? So, with this timeline and this setting, we’re allowed to do a really deep dive into that and explore a lot of that stuff.”

The Continental Expands the World of John Wick

The Continental First Look (1)

This is just one part of the overall plan to greatly expand the world of John Wick. Ana de Armas will star in the upcoming feature film spinoff Ballerina, which features Keanu Reeves and other characters from the John Wick films making special appearances. There may be other spinoffs following different characters in the years to come, as franchise director Chad Stahelski recently said how there have been talks to give John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum star Halle Berry her own spinoff as Sofia.

“We have actually been in talks several times to try to… I hate the term spinoff. But they are trying to do other satellite projects off the Wick franchise. Hopefully they’ll be good ones,” Stahelski said on The Joe Rogan Experience.

The Continental will premiere on Peacock in September 2023. As for when the franchise will be coming back to the big screen, that will be next year with the theatrical release of Ballerina on June 7, 2024.
