We now have our first official poster for (one of) the upcoming John Wick spinoffs, The Continental. Currently planned as a miniseries and set for release on Peacock, The Continental will delve into the early years of one of John Wick’s most trusted friends and colleagues, Winston Scott, with the poster inviting audiences to check-in to the famous hotel for assassins. Check out the first poster for The Continental below.
The Continental will tell the backstory of Winston Scott, played in the John Wick franchise by Ian McShane, and how he came to his position as proprietor of The Continental hotel in the 1970s, establishing it as a safe haven for assassins where no business may take place. The series will explore real-world events against the backdrop of the world of Wick, including the Great Garbage Strike and the American Mafia’s rise to economic power.
Of course, going back in time will require a younger Winston, with Ambulance and The Flight Attendant star Colin Woodell due to play the role. The rest of the cast ready to check-in to The Continental includes the likes of Mel Gibson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate, Ben Robson, Peter Greene, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes star Ayomide Adegun as a young Charon, played in the John Wick series by the late, great Lance Reddick.
The Continental does not yet have a release date, but is expected to premiere on Peacock in late 2023.
What’s Next for John Wick After Chapter 4?
The central character of this slowly emerging shared universe, John Wick, is currently busy doing what he does best in John Wick: Chapter 4. The critically acclaimed and hugely successful sequel finds the titular assassin uncovering a path to defeating the High Table, but before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into new foes.
Directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, and Ian McShane, John Wick: Chapter 4 has been met with rave reviews from critics and has grossed over $269 million worldwide. While the sequel does appear to be the final outing for the assassin, a fifth movie is now reportedly more likely following Chapter 4’s popularity.
“There’s a will and there’s an openness,” Lionsgate chair Joe Drake said regarding the potential for John Wick: Chapter 5. “And you could certainly interpret that ending in different ways. We’re all going to take a tiny rest here and then scratch at ideas about whether there’s a credible way to get into five. But there’s no guarantee.”
Regardless of what happen with Wick, the world is already set to expand. Alongside The Continental, Knives Out star Ana de Armas will lead the big screen spinoff Ballerina, which is also due to feature Keanu Reeves as John Wick. Other possible spinoffs are also now being developed, including a movie centered around Akira and Caine, the characters played by Rina Sawayama and Donnie Yen in John Wick: Chapter 4.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is out now in theaters.
