There’s nothing like taking the scissors to your old ends in pursuit of a newer, fresher you. The pixie cut is a classic for a reason, whether you’re used to having your hair short but want a bit of a refresh or you want a change from long, swishy hair.
With the trend for shorter hair going stratospheric, it’s now one of the most popular chops you can have. In fact, searches for “pixie cuts” are up 160 percent, according to L’Oréal Paris, and if this season’s red carpets are anything to go by, celebrities are fully on board. Florence Pugh, Saweetie, and Lea Seydoux have all worn the cut recently.
For 2022, the pixie’s gotten a makeover, so expect to see the cut get much more creative. “If we look at the pixie crop, it’s going to be more diverse,” says hairstylist Larry King. Specifically, “we’re seeing a lot more length at the back to make it softer or more length around the front and sides.” Effectively, it’s a little less jagged and instead feels a bit shaggier and more lived in — but still very chic.
