The wait is almost over! On November 3rd, the fourth season of The Dragon Prince will be hitting Netflix, and audiences will finally return to Xadia! But with the new trailer, that can be viewed below, things are about to get intense!
The trailer gives us a taste of everything! Two years have gone by since the war for Xadia, and everyone has been settling into their new roles. Ezran is still pretty young, but has grown into a dignified king. Meanwhile, Callum has grown quite comfortable into his new role as the new high mage. The queen of the dragons is preparing to visit the kingdom of Katolis with the now older Zym, but Callum can’t keep his spirits up. Rayla has been missing for what appears to be years, and he still misses her.
Meanwhile, Claudia has been working hard to bring her father, Lord Viren, back from the dead. While she has succeeded, Viren only has thirty days. Their only hope is to find and free Aaravos, who’s only link to this realm is in the mirror that now resides in Callum’s study.
The stage is set, and we get our montage. We see familiar faces, like fan-favorite Amaya and her elf girlfriend. Claudia and her new boyfriend, Terry, also make brief appearances in the trailer. We also see brand new faces, like the elf that Claudia gets into a scrap with, a strange golem-like creature, and a rock-like dragon at the very end. We also get to see fan-favorite Rayla, older and stronger, with a new friend of her own!
Gaze Upon a Fallen Star…
After almost three years of silence, the team behind The Dragon Prince has been going all out with providing teasers, posters, and trailers for the upcoming season. The clips so far have given subtle hints to set the stage, like Callum’s new role, the time skip, and an official introduction of Terry. While the last teaser was mostly a recap of the first three seasons, this one is all about what’s to come and gives a ton of meat for fans to speculate on! The cherry on top is Rayla’s return, but where has she been? Well, turns out if you read the books you’ll get your answers!
The Dragon Prince: Through the Moon is a graphic novel that was published in 2020 and takes place directly after the events of season 3. The book centers around Rayla’s internal struggle. While Viren is presumed dead and her friends are celebrating, she can’t shake the feeling that it’s not over yet. Because his body wasn’t recovered, Rayla is sure that he’s still out there. She also suffers from the mystery of her parents’ disappearance, as well as the fate of her former caregiver, Runaan. She sets off on a journey of her own, where she tries to uncover those mysteries, but the book has an open ending, which leads into season four.
With so many open endings, there is a lot to hope for in season four. But from what we’ve seen already, fans have only been reacting with more and more excitement. With all we’ve been given, it seems like the team behind The Dragon Prince is just as eager as we are to see our friends again!
