BRITS heading abroad this summer are being urged to check their passports in case they are out of date.

Some countries require as much as six months to be left on the passport to allow holidaymakers to visit.

Failure to meet the entry requirements for your destination will result in being refused onto the aircraft.

There are more than 70 countries that require the extra months – here is the full list:

Some of the popular holiday destinations on that list include Egypt, Thailand and Indonesia, as well as the UAE, home to Dubai.

It isn’t the only new rule – Brits now need at least three months left on their passport to travel to countries in Europe.

And the expiry date may not be accurate either, as new UK rules no longer allow passports to be more than 10 years old.

Previous rules allowed Brits to roll over up to nine additional months when renewing a passport – these are no longer valid.

Some Brits have fallen victim to this new rule, and only realising it when they were turned away from their flight.

Back in November, a mum was banned from her flight after she was told her passport was out of date – even though it wasn’t.

And one woman lost out on her £2,600 dream holiday due to confusion over her passport’s expiry dates.

We recently explained the three things you should check on your passport to avoid missing your holiday.

And families are being urged to apply for their passport at last 10 weeks before their holiday due to huge delays – with the fast track website even crashing due to demand.
