Speaking to press, including Express.co.uk, writer Kevin Sampson explained the care the creators took in handling the delicate matter.
“It was never the intention to get into Moat’s point of view.
“In terms of reaching out to his family and asking for their perspective, we weren’t even considering fetishizing a man on the run who was, in inverted commas, ‘giving the police a run around’ or giving them ‘the slip’.
“What we did do responsibly was to notify them, and to invite any comments that they might have about our intentions.”
