In the thick of the action, just behind London’s infamous Oxford Street, The Churchill is named after the former war leader, Winston Churchill, and you’ll notice subtle nods to him throughout.

The fantastic location is what makes it really stand out from most other swish hotels.

You’re barely a minute’s walk from the hustle and bustle, yet the road outside feels quiet and secluded, overlooking Portman Square Garden.

The nearest tube stations are Marble Arch and Bond Street, both less than a ten-minute walk away.

The Churchill is just what a glam 5* hotel in London should be – classy furniture, incredibly helpful staff and relaxed guests reading the paper in a comfy chair by the bar.

Sip on cocktails at the Bar & Terrace or, if you’ve never visited Oxford Street’s Selfridges, it’s worth taking the seven-minute walk there, even if just to stare in awe at the colossal building and fancy concessions.

You’re also really close to the West End where you can queue for super discounted show tickets on the day – although if you don’t want to risk it, there are other ways of securing a cheap London theatre ticket.

You’d be mad to go elsewhere for dinner. Even though there’s cracking restaurants nearby, the hotel’s Montagu Kitchen is almost certainly better.

The new sharing menu from Chef Roger Olsson is fancy but not to the point that it’s off-putting.

The lemon sole with tartare sauce and purple potatoes is a must – and make sure to try the cocktails.

They make all the classics but with a twist, like a lavender negroni.

The menu is pricey – with small dishes around £15-£20 each – but well worth it.

The 440 bedrooms are spick and span, decorated with fluffy grey carpets and huge windows with views of the leafy trees.

Bathrooms are as glossy as the lobby and loaded with Molton Brown toiletries.
