I’ve always despised shopping for jeans (and that says a lot, considering how much I love shopping in general). As a 5’10″ woman, I can tell you that shopping for jeans—or any kind of pants, really—isn’t easy, seeing as the majority of women’s jeans have an inseam of just 27 to 29 inches long (depending on the style and cut of the pair). And, well, that’s just not it—unless you’re in the market for capris (heh).

If you feel like you’re constantly on the hunt for the best jeans for tall women, know that your search might finally be over. Below, I’ve curated the ultimate jeans guide for all my fellow high-in-stature friends. From affordable denim pieces that look (and feel) more expensive than they really are to the perfect pair of straight-leg jeans that’ll instantly become your new go-to’s—shop it all here!

Best Overall

Abercrombie & Fitch Curve Love ’90s Ultra High Rise Straight Jeans

ICYMI: This iconic brand’s jeans are better than ever. Now, all of their oh-so-comfy jeans are available in a “long” length which offers a 32.5-inch inseam. Plus, every style is offered in their signature Curve Love fit, which features built-in stretch up to two inches around the thighs and hip area for a true and comfortable fit.

Best Affordable Jeans

ASOS DESIGN Hourglass high rise farleigh ‘slim’ mom jeans

Jeans can get very expensive, and I’m not just talking about fancy high-end designer jeans. If you want quality denim without hurting your wallet, ASOS is the place. On average, their jeans can cost anywhere between $30 to $50. Their normal range of jeans typically goes up to a 34-inch inseam, while their in-house Tall brand has 36-inch and 38-inch inseams for all my six-foot-tall pals.

Best Flare Jeans

Lee High Waist Flare Jeans

Lee’s flare jeans are available up to a 34-inch inseam and come in a variety of washes, so you can find the perfect flare for you.

Best Mid-Rise Jeans

madewell Tall Mid-Rise Stovepipe Jeans

Madewell is another great brand that offers options for tall women. There are two size ranges: “Tall” for women who are 5’8″ to 5’11” and “Taller” for women who are 6’0″ and over. This pair is a true mid-rise fit, in case you’re looking for something other than the usual high-waist cut.

Best Straight-Leg Jeans

Ksubi Playback Karma High-Rise Straight Jeans

Ksubi’s straight-leg jeans are a personal favorite of mine. They truly are “straight” in their silhouette—there’s no skin-tight fit or kick-flare design to them—and they offer an inseam of 32 inches.

Best Baggy/Oversized Jeans

Citizens of Humanity Paloma Baggy Jeans

Finding oversized jeans when you’re tall can be tricky, especially when you want that baggy look without completely drowning in a pair of jeans. These bbs by Citizens of Humanity are fitted at the waist and have a roomy, wide-cut leg. Plus, with a 32-inch inseam, they’ll be sure to reach the ground.

Best Crop Jeans

FRAME Le Jane Crop in Baines Rips

If you’re in the market for a pair of crop jeans, then FRAME is the denim brand for you. Their Le Jane Crop comes in four washes and has a 27-inch inseam—the same length as most standard inseams, so you know it’ll hit right above your ankles, if not higher if that’s the look you’re going for.

Best Overalls

Good American Good ’90s Overall

As you may know, overalls aren’t a tall girl’s best friend. However, this pair by Good American overalls are. Thanks to its 30-inch inseam, you can bet these beauties won’t feel like capris. Also, since it has a ’90s silhouette, the top is a bit baggier than other overalls, making it an excellent option for those with long torsos.

Best Low-rise jeans

The Low Boot in Indigo Summit

Hop on the low-rise trend with these bbs by FRAME. They have a 31-inch inseam, so you won’t have to lose out on length, given the low-rise fit.

best bootcut jeans

Diesel Low-Rise Bootcut Jeans

If you’re tall, the problem with bootcut jeans is that they typically stop right at or above your ankles, giving you this kind of high-water look that isn’t, uh, very fashion-forward. Luckily, Diesel now offers these classic Y2K jeans in both 32- and 34-inch inseams so they can puddle properly over your ankles.

Best Dad Jeans

Levi’s Women’s Premium Dad Jeans

If you love a good straight-leg but are over the baggy trend, dad jeans will be your new BFF. Levi’s Dad Jeans are the perfect combination of the two—they offer the classic high-waist fit around the hips with a loose-fitting straight-leg cut that’s very comfortable to wear. Plus, they come in both 30- and 32-inch inseams.

Best skinny jeans

Topshop Joni jean with rip in black

Tiered of your skinny jeans feeling more like capris? Topshop’s Joni jeans are a classic tight-fit silhouette that’s super comfortable to wear because of their signature stretch denim, and they’re available in both 32- and 34-inch inseams. Your new fave skinnies await!

Best patterned jeans

Daily Paper Mel Monogram Straight-leg Jeans

Just because your inseam is 30-inches or longer doesn’t mean you can’t wear fun printed jeans. Daily Paper’s Mel jeans have a 32-inch inseam, offer a natural high-waist silhouette, and are made with comfy stretch-cotton denim.

How to choose the best jeans for your height

Unfortunately, not all jeans are the same, and not all retailers offer sizes designed especially for people who are 5’9″ or taller. So, what’s a shopper to do? Well, consider this: It’s all about the inseam.

Because most product descriptions or size charts will have the inseam listed, knowing how long yours is will be crucial whenever you’re shopping for jeans.

But, wait, what is an inseam? The inseam is the distance between one’s groin area and the end of the leg opening. So to measure yours, take a soft measuring tape and note the length in inches from below your crotch to the bottom of your ankle.

Of course, measuring yourself is… kinda tricky. So here’s an easier way to get your inseam measurement: Grab a pair of jeans that you know and love the length of and measure those instead.

To measure the inseam on a pair of jeans, lie them flat on a table and measure along the inside of the leg from the groin area to the hem. And voila, there you have it.
