THE recent summer weather has many of us planning days out, with theme parks a great choice for both families and thrill-seekers.
However many parents dread the cost a day out at one can rack up. But not all theme park visits need to break the bank.
In fact one of those voted best value for money by parents is right here in Scotland.
The Landmark Forest Adventure Park was also recently voted by TripAdvisor as one of the Top 10 Adventure Parks in the UK.
There’s just one main entry fee for this family run park, which has been entertaining families for over 50 years, and every attraction inside the huge park is free to use as many times as you like. and you can even bring the dog!
Tripadvisor reviewer Duncan B wrote: “Great day out with 14, 9 and 7 year old children. So worth the ticket price as all attractions included.”
Susan M said: “Absolutely awesome. Would highly recommend all at landmark forest adventure park. Loved every minute kids were delighted. Whole day spent there well worth the money.”
While Neil S wrote: “Absolutely superb. Worth every penny. If you have active kids they will spend many happy hours at Landmark. There were no hidden charges.
“Once you’re in you can do all of the activities as many times as you like. My sons were here for 6 hours and wished it had stayed open later! Thoroughly recommend.”
At the park, near Aviemore, you can plunge down water coasters, swing through the trees like Tarzan, fly through the air on a parachute jump and meet your favourite dinosaurs in the flesh!?
One of the most popular attractions at Landmark is Dinosaur Kingdom – Scotland’s biggest dino experience where you can meet 22 pre-historic giants that made Scotland their home over 160 million years ago.
These gigantic beasts – the diplodocus is over 90 ft long – are very realistic and move and call to each other. You’ll come face to face with scary T-Rex, triceratops, stegosaurus and velociraptors.
Get over your terror at Wild Water Coaster which features three fear-inducing raft rides over waterfalls of varying steepness. The Falcon, The Wildcat and The Otter – try them all if you dare!
The Falcon drops like a hawk in a dive over 50 feet of near vertical plunge into a long water bath creating a big splash at the end. It’s often rated the scariest of the three raft rides!
The Wildcat is a fast and furious raft ride, with a double bump which helps you become weightless for a split second and the Otter is a twisting and disorienting tunnel with skips and dips done in total darkness!
At the Tarzan Trail you can thump your chest, harness up and swing into action like the jungle hero himself, let the little ones go wild on the Wee Monkey climbing Trail, take a leap of faith on the parachute jump simulation at Skydive.
Put your driving to the test on the Safari ride-on cars, or have a go on the remote controlled ones, take the kids to the Teeny Farm ride, let little Bob the Builders loose on mine diggers, go shooting at the gallery, get lost in the Labyrinth and take on Scotland’s first ever aerial net challenge – fantastic bouncy fun for the whole family!
Then head to Wonder Woods where things are definitely not what they appear. A spinning Vortex Tunnel, A Topsy Turvy room and a Growing-Shrinking room await exploration.
All that action is sure to work up an appetite so when hunger pangs strike head to Snack Shack in the forest for hot drinks and bites, or for bigger appetites Pinewood Grill is a must, serving up old favs, including mac and cheese, burgers, veggie options or try Forester’s Cafe for fish and chips, burgers and home baking and lots more.
Tickets costs from £30 for adults, £28 for 4-14 year-olds, £14 toddlers, disabled £15 and under 3s and over 75s get in free.
