American rock band The Killers have been ordered to turn down the music after residents made noise complaints ahead of their second show at Falkirk Stadium on Tuesday.
Complaints were made on social media as people who lived miles away, in areas such as Larbert and Hallglen, claimed that they could hear the Mr Brightside chart toppers from their homes during the two-hour concert.
But some residents in Grangemouth, less than a mile away, claimed that they could hear nothing.
The Killers’ drew a crowd of more than 20,000 to the stadium after a two year delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The band initially only planned one night at the stadium on June 6, but as demand for tickets grew exponentially, another show was added on June 7.
Falkirk Council confirmed that they had received a ‘small number’ of complaints on Monday night and Tuesday morning.
They added that their team had spoken with noise consultants employed for Monday’s gig and had agreed to reduce the noise levels for the show on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Falkirk Council said: “We had officers there monitoring last night as there are specific licence conditions related to noise.
“These conditions are similar to those used throughout Scotland.
“We have used these same conditions for previous events, and we generally get very few complaints from such events at Falkirk Stadium.
“We are aware of a couple of reports on Twitter of the music being loud some distance away.
“We also received a small number of complaints last night/this morning.
“Our team spoke with the noise consultants employed for the event last night and they have already agreed to reduce the levels for tonight’s event.”
