The Last of Us begins to prepare for its return. The series adaptation of the acclaimed video game on HBO Max became an absolute success, breaking records on the platform and being acclaimed by both game fans and critics for its excellent character development.
Long before the broadcast of the first part came to an end, the series received the green light for a second installment, for which we will have to wait quite a while. Fortunately, news will begin to arrive this year when filming starts in Vancouver later this year, according to Deadline. Although at the moment, there is no specific date for the return to the set.
The first installment in the series was also filmed in Canada, primarily in Alberta, despite the game’s story taking place across the United States. But it is quite common for large productions of this style to choose the northern neighbor for their filming.

The first season of The Last of Us managed to cover the first part of the game. However, the second will not achieve the same, so it is expected that there will be more seasons to cover the entire continuation of Ellie’s story.
Five years after their perilous journey through post-pandemic America, Ellie and Joel settle in Jackson, Wyoming. Living among a thriving community of survivors has given them peace and stability, despite the constant threat from the infected and other, more desperate survivors.
When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to obtain justice and bring closure. As she hunts down those responsible one by one, she must deal with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of their actions.
In parallel, the game’s story follows Abby, a young woman who was part of the Fireflies along with her father before he was killed. After the tragedy, she decides to start her path of revenge, leading her to cross paths with Ellie. This means Abby and Ellie will be the two main characters in the next season of The Last of Us.
No casting news has been shared for Abby, but the show’s creators have confirmed that Bella Ramsey will return as Ellie for the second season, despite the character being five years older than the last time we saw her.
