The Libertines singer Pete Doherty has welcomed a baby girl with his wife Katia de Vidas.
The musician, 44, announced the news on Instagram on Monday by sharing a photo of a newborn’s hospital tag, as well as a picture of the baby curled up.
The tag’s details revealed she was born on May 31.
‘Billie-May Doherty ♥️,’ Pete wrote simply in the caption, sharing her name with the world.
Friends and fans were among those to congratulate the pair in the social media post’s comments.
The couple are in the band the Puta Madres, with Katia on keyboard and Pete as the frontman, and married in September 2021, two days after confirming their engagement, in a private ceremony at a French retreat.
They have been together since 2012, and Pete is said to have shared the news that they were expecting a baby together during a performance in Strasbourg in December.
Billie-May is Pete’s third child and second daughter.
The singer has a son, Astile, from a previous relationship with singer Lisa Moorish and a daughter with model Lindi Hingston.
He was also previously in a high-profile relationship with supermodel Kate Moss.
Alongside his successful career as co-frontman of rock band The Libertines, Doherty’s other musical projects include indie band Babyshambles and the Puta Madres.
He was also known for his notorious party lifestyle in the early 2000s, however the artist has been clean of heroin, crack cocaine and ketamine for over three years, after a 20-year addiction.
He called kicking his habit a ‘big, big switch’.
‘It took me a long time to get my head around, just the idea of being able to live without heroin. I was using so heavily and it was part of the ritual of being creative. Everything was built around using, so my old life collapsed really.
‘I was annoying myself picking up with the guitar. I couldn’t work out any more what it was I wanted to do,’ he told The i in an interview in March 2022.
