SCHOOLS are out and it’s time to entertain the kids. Thankfully Scotland is blessed with plenty of places to take them for days out and weekends away.
And if rides, dodgems, waltzers, bumper cars. bowling, simulator rides and kiddie carousels are on your radar, then you should head to Aberdeen for one of the biggest and best amusement parks in the country.
Codona’s has been a mainstay in the city for over half a century and every year it just gets better.
And what’s even better – the family-run park is right on the beach. So you get two days out for the price of one!
It’s no wonder it gets a top rating on Tripadvisor.
First thing you’ll spot is The Grampian Eye – a big wheel which stands 100 feet high with fantastic views.
Hailed as “one of Aberdeen’s must do attractions’, it even featured on the famous ‘Monopoly’ Aberdeen board game, great fun for everyone!
Thrillseekers will love ‘Dead Man’s Drop Tower’ a pirate themed 80ft drop tower. The 12 seater ride lifts you up the pirate ship mast to the crows nest in the clouds, before you drop back down to earth.
The Galleon is a giant swinging pirate ship. Hold on tight as it swings through the the air faster and higher.
The Disco Waltzers are a big favourite with young and old. The fun of this traditional carnival attraction is given a real spin with funky disco music.
Get in another spin on the Spinning Bumper Cars, one of the park’s newest attractions and then take little ones on the Kiddies Carousel where they can sit on their choice of animal, car or truck and enjoy the gentle ride.
Youngsters are also big fans of the Apple Family Coaster. Take a ride on the giant caterpillar as it makes it way round the track on its route to eat the massive apple and enjoy its gentle turns, dips and rises.
Take to the water in the custom built 5,000 ft2 ‘blue lagoon’, battling it out with other ‘scallywags’ to see who survives a good soaking on the Bumper Boats but watch out for the ‘landlubbers’ splashing you with their water cannons!
Test your skills, and luck, on the 18-Hole outdoor adventure golf course with its state-of-the-art special effects and pirate theme, including a 25ft high volcano and pirate ship.
And don’t miss Smugglers Cove, the award-winning indoor and outdoor adventure play area with massive play frame and soft play area inside, packed with chutes, tunnels, bridges, walkways and lots more, as well as our three huge tree huts outside all connected by walkways, so the kids can run around with their friends, playing games.
For your tiny tots there’s the ‘Little Nippers’ area which has a huge pirate ship climbing frame, wooden activity panels and more.
Teens will love the Battle Royale Laser Tag arena with the latest in urban warfare where 24 people can battle it out over multi levels, capture video base stations, activate energy gates and upgrade to different weapons.
And don’t miss the chance to get aboard a jeep and enjoy a unique tour of the dinosaur reserve in the Dino Safari 4D Motion Ride. You’ll get within touching distance of a giant Diplodocus and the ferocious T-Rex as you travel through the jungle.
There’s also go-karting and a HUGE indoor arcade which boasts virtual reality games and play ‘n’ win machines and plenty of place to eat and drink.
And after all that excitement get your towel and got lie down on the glorious sandy beach and soak up the sun ( hopefully!)
