Share emotions
When we think about sharing time, we do it thinking about those who are alone, but without realizing it we also do it with small details around us: a coffee in the distance with friends or an unexpected visit through a “zoom”, or share the best photos of that dinner at work that someone couldn’t attend. Thanks to technology we can do archeology of ourselves and recover all those emotions that we lived in that special trip, or the birthday of the grandfather or the wedding of that great friend, so atypical but so in line with the new normal that we have to live.
Sharing is synonymous with generosity that comes in the form of a message to remind us that we do not forget that person, or that good joke and that it never fails when the occasion requires a few laughs. With technology we say it all. Because behind the great innovations, there is not only data, cables or drones. On the other side of Big Data and the next-generation mobile network there are people.
Human relations, the pillar of our society
At a time when our best wishes are tinged with peace and love, we cannot miss our dearest people, wherever they may be. Did you know that for 81% of Spaniards, personal relationships are fundamental in their (our) life? That’s right, as revealed in the study ´The importance of human connections’, carried out together with Kantar and Picnic and promoted by Fundación Telefónica. It also indicates that this high percentage of people bet on human connections to improve our quality of life, since they feed a wide range of needs related to physiological, psychological and social dimensions. Come on, to remain ourselves no matter what happens.
The need to feel connected to others is, like technology, a universal feeling. This is also stated by the psychiatrist Robert Waldinger, who has directed a longitudinal study on happiness, carried out by the prestigious Harvard University where he is a professor at the School of Medicine. And this study says something as beautiful as that the most important ingredient for happiness and health are good interpersonal relationships: family, friends and community.
The basis of personal relationships
And for that happiness to continue to grow, it must be based on trust. This is one of the main characteristics that most conditions us when it comes to building deeper relationships. That trust makes the magic of love and friendship flow despite time and distance. New technologies already help us to overcome these barriers, because a quality relationship is not one that is forged on a daily basis, but one that is maintained in time and space (astronauts know this very well).
Precisely, the deployment of technologies such as the 5G network, which reaches more than 80% of the Spanish territory, makes it possible to connect hundreds of nuclei in rural areas in Spain with coverage problems, to promote their development, improve their working conditions and quality of life and that they are not isolated. Connectivity also helps us to improve our health and that of our elders, to design more livable and safer cities, to manage natural resources more efficiently and thus protect the environment. Telefónica’s zero emissions challenge is a commitment to the planet, and new technologies are the way to achieve it, thanks to the development of innovative solutions based on Internet of Things connectivity, Cloud Computing and data analysis.
Telefónica is already leading the digital transition of companies, especially SMEs and the industrial sector as a source of progress for rapid economic reactivation. For this, it will also be necessary to create technological profiles in today’s students. That is why it is so necessary to bring education to all corners of our country, so that no child or young person is left behind and thus eliminate the digital divide. The commitment to quality education must be accompanied by training programs to fill the jobs of tomorrow, which are so necessary even today.
Technology helps us create a more human world, but the heart and the magic of feelings are put by each one of us.
