Lana Wachowski’s The Matrix Resurrections is the newest chapter in the storey of Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss). Since its release in 76 markets on December 22nd, the film’s global box office total has hit USD 69 million. While it is still an unprecedented moment in the midst of a global pandemic, as well as HBO Max releasing the film to streaming at the same time, it is still an outstanding opening weekend total given everything that appears to be working against it. The Matrix Resurrections reintroduced us to Neo, who we were told killed with Trinity in The Matrix Revolutions. Fans are excited to see them both together again. The Wachowski Sisters created a world and made us rethink our own reality in a way that impacted the way many theatregoers view films and film discussions. While Lilly Wachowski did not accompany her sister this time, it was nonetheless an excellent contribution to The Matrix universe.
