The Google Year In Search 2021 report has revealed which have been the most Googled TV shows of 2021 — and the number one spot may not surprise you!
While we’ve enjoyed all sorts of brilliant telly this year, there has only been one show that’s had us talking like none other. Taking the top spot out of the most Googled TV shows of 2021 is: Squid Game.
The Netflix hit scored the top spot, meaning it’s experienced the highest number of searches across the board in 2021.
At number two is Shonda Rhimes beloved 2021 project: Bridgerton, which also showed on Netflix. Until Squid Game came around, Bridgerton was the most searched for TV show on Google.
The other eight spots in the top ten went to the likes of Cobra Kai (4), Loki (5), and Ginny and Georgia (8).
The report also revealed which shows had been most searched for in the UK, as opposed to globally. While Squid Game and Bridgerton still took number one and two respectively, the top ten featured Brit faves such as Line of Duty, Love Island, It’s A Sin, and The Serpent.
With Squid Game at the top of the list both globally and in the UK, it will come as little surprise to discover that the series was the most watched show on Netflix worldwide in its first 28 days, racking up 1.6 billion hours in viewing time.
It was recently revealed that the show had a whopping 142 million “member households” that watched the series in the first four weeks. This means Squid Game has now double the amount of member households than Bridgerton, at 82 million. We’re just off to re-watch all ten episodes.
