The new LELO Dot Vibrator is tiny, but oh-so mighty

The LELO Dot vibrator has landed. Yep: Luxury sex toy brand LELO — known for its sleek, high-tech suction vibrators and G-spot toys — have launched a new and uniquely designed vibrator: the Dot, which has a tiny tip for super-targeted stimulation on the clitoris or other erogenous zones.

This technology is meant to create “a completely new unique sensation, reinventing orgasms as we know them” and specifically allowing for multiple orgasms, according to a press release from the brand.

There’s already a class of vibrators out there that are very tiny at the end for pinpointed clitoral pleasure, like the Satisfyer Twirling Fun Tip Vibrator and the Jimmyjane Focus, so it was only a matter of time before Lelo created its own version

The soft silicone vibrator, which retails for £159, comes in pretty pastels — pink, aqua, and lilac —with an ergonomic loop handle and a firm shaft that gets smaller and smaller until it tapers off to a bendy little vibrating nub. This nub moves in an elliptical motion, making a figure eight. Three buttons on the handle turn the toy on and off and cycle through eight vibration intensities.

After taking the LELO Dot vibrator out of its package and charging it with the included USB cable, I noticed there were a few different ways to hold it against my body. The shaft has a flat side that you can hold against your clitoris for fuller sensations, or you can turn it around for very pinpointed stimulation. You can also choose to hold it vertically to cover the clitoris’s whole length, or horizontally to get the whole width (or diagonally, or anything in between). The entire shaft of the toy vibrates a little bit, so you can also use the wider parts of it, though the vibration is concentrated at the end.

The method that worked best for me was to hold the flat edge over my clitoris horizontally, so that I got the vibrations from the tip plus a bit more right over my clit and on the sides. It was not the strongest vibrator that I’ve used, but with a bit of patience and readjusting, it was enough to get me to a sharp and intense orgasm — and then a few more.

Because the area of the vibrator making contact with my clitoris was small, it was easy to reach my other hand down and put a finger in my vagina as well, making for extra strong orgasms. I can imagine the LELO Dot vibrator’s slim design would also make it good to use during intercourse, since it would leave room for both people’s bodies without getting in the way.

All in all, I had three orgasms in about 20 minutes, which was not bad. But it was still not quite what I was expecting, given that LELO advertises the LELO Dot vibrator as a source of “infinite pleasure” providing “intense multiple orgasms” — and that their last new release, the Ida Wave, gave me 15 orgasms and the stamina to keep going for an hour. The “complete elimination of post-orgasm numbness and saturation” promised in the Dot press release wasn’t what I personally experienced; I felt pretty spent and unresponsive after the third. I also kind of wished that I had two of them so that I could surround my whole clitoris with vibrations, not just stimulate part of it.

I’d recommend this toy to those who enjoy having a very small area stimulated very intensely, or who just want to know what that feels like. However, for the price (which is in line with the rest of the LELO lineup), the Dot is more of a novelty than a staple; it wouldn’t be among my top picks for those who struggle with orgasms, want to have more, or generally want something very powerful. I’d say it’s more for advanced sex toy users who simply would like to experience the latest that sex tech has to offer—and to see for themselves whether “infinite pleasure” can be achieved.
