An updated version of The Outer Worlds will release on March 7 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, bundling the base game with its two expansions–Murder on Eridanos and Peril of Gorgon–together with numerous technical improvements. The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition will add higher resolution graphics, dynamic weather systems, overhauled lighting and environments, improved performance and load times, enhanced details on characters, an increased level cap, and more.
Developer Obsidian Entertainment added that for all players who already own The Outer Worlds and its DLCs on Xbox One, PS4, or PC, a discounted upgrade is available through the same console family or PC store for the reduced price of $10. If you’d prefer to buy the entire bundle, this all-in-one version of The Outer Wolds will cost you $60.
The Outer Worlds was first released in January 2016, and similar to Obsidian’s cult-classic game Fallout: New Vegas, it mixed action with a strong narrative and decisions that had ramifications on the worlds around you.
Like that game, you were free to be the savior of planets that were facing galactic levels of famine thanks to the greed of corporations, or you could explore the system as a gun-for-hire who only looked out for themselves.
“The Outer Worlds adopts the most compelling innovations of modern Fallout games, emphasizing immersive exploration and impactful, action-oriented combat in a game engine (Unreal Engine) that actually makes those things feel good by contemporary standards,” Edmond Tran wrote in GameSpot’s The Outer Worlds review. “The Outer Worlds is consistently compelling throughout, and it’s a superb example of how to promote traditional RPG sensibilities in a sharp, modern experience.”
