Look up “chic haircuts” in the dictionary, and guaranteed, there’ll be a picture of the French Bob. But, our fave Frenchie chop has had an update and the Parisian Bob is here to pick up from where its counterpart left off.
For the uninitiated, the French Bob is defined by its cheeky lip-length shape and signature full, brow-skimming fringe. The Parisian Bob, however, is a looser, less strict rendition, with a longer length and a wispier take on the fringe.
“The grown-out French bob – aka the Parisian bob – is a great haircut going into summer,” says Nick Latham, one half of top London hair stylists, The Hair Bros, in a recent Instagram post. “Especially when paired with a low-commitment, barely-there fringe,” he adds. “The haircut goes from jaw-length, with some pieces hitting the lip and it’s probably about as low-maintenance as you can get. A tiny bit of a cream or mousse, air dry it and tuck it around your ears, and you’re set,” says Nick.

It’s great news if you’re in the process of growing a French-girl bob out, because it turns out you’re transitional cut is bang on trend, or if you want to go short – just not that short, it’s an entry level way of nodding to that Frenchie shape. If you’re in, and you want to know what to ask your stylist for, Nick has some tips.
“As always we’d start by cutting the bottom chunk of the hair. We’d start this haircut from the back and look to find a good guide length that sit really nicely around the neck. As I’m taking the clips out, I’m looking at exactly how i’s sitting, exactly how it’s framing the face and bone structure and building from there,” he says.
