The popular villain first appeared in Detective Comics #58 in 1941, and was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Oswald is a short, stocky man, known for his love of birds and his specialized high-tech umbrellas. As a mobster and thief, he is known as the “crime lord”; his nightclub business provides a cover for criminal activity, and he is frequently used by Batman as a source of information on the criminal underworld, something explored in the film starring Robert Pattinson.

Being one of the Dark Knight’s best-known enemies along with the Joker, he has appeared in various adaptations of the Caped Crusader stories, some of the best known being Danny DeVito’s version for Tim Burton films. More recently, the character also had a central role in the Gotham series, where he was played by Robin Lord Taylor, who was highly acclaimed for his work as the villain.

In the series, we will surely see Oswald’s rise to power after his boss, Carmine Falcone, was killed in The Batman. For this reason, it is likely that he is the main villain of the sequel to the film.
