The Perfect Vodka For Paranormal Enthusiasts Is Available Now

Horror fans who love vodka, raise your hands! Does the idea of a spirit that’s rested with spirits sound like something you’re brave enough to have on your home bar? If so, Harridan Vodka’s Paranormal Reserve should be on your list.

Just in time for Halloween, this limited edition vodka features exactly 666 bottles that rested for 30 days at the Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. Paranormal enthusiasts may know this as the museum that’s home to the infamous Annabelle doll who in the 1970s was reportedly demonically possessed and happens to be the inspiration for the Annabelle horror movies including Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, and Annabelle Comes Home.

Harridan Vodka’s Paranormal Reserve features a red foil label and the inscription “Help Me, Help Us,” — inspired by the mysterious parchment notes found by Annabelle’s original owner in her apartment. Packaged in an engraved wooden with a functional Ouija board on its lid, it comes with a letter-pressed certificate of authenticity and gloves that are meant for handling the bottle.

The Occult Museum is closed to the public now making these bottles of Harridan Vodka the closest paranormal fans will be able to get to the haunted doll. The doll was initially given to a woman named Donna by her mother as a graduation gift, but soon began to move on its own and was often found in different rooms. When a blood-like liquid appeared on Annabelle’s chest, she took it to a medium, who during a seance, said it was inhabited by the spirit of Annabelle Higgins, a child who was found lifeless in a field where Donna’s home sat.

After being investigated by famous demonologists and paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, the doll continued to display malicious and violent behavior. It was deemed to be demonically possessed and became enclosed in a glass case that later became part of the paranormal artifacts kept at the Occult Museum.

If you’ve got $13,000 to spare and you’re in the market for the most chilling bottle of them all, the 666th bottle of Paranormal Reserve is up for grabs. This especially creepy bottle was placed directly inside Annabelle’s original protective case in the museum and is packaged in a one of a kind, bespoke wooden case inspired by the one Annabelle currently resides in.

This isn’t the first creepy edition of Harridan’s Paranormal Reserve. Last year’s sold out in under 12 hours after 60 bottles were rested across three of the United States’ most haunted locations: The Conjuring House, the Villisca Axe Murder House, and the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.

All spookiness aside, Harridan Vodka is made using organic New York State corn and is double-distilled giving it a floral aroma and creamy mouthfeel. Tasting notes include citrus and black pepper with a bit of toffee and caramel and a hint of vanilla on the finish.

A fan of all things witchcraft and horror movies, CEO and President of Harridan Vodka, Bridgette Taylor says the vodka honors the spirit of defiant women who do not conform to typical female representations. She became horrified and fascinated by the idea that women who did not fit into the patriarchy’s concept of what women should be were treated as witches and thereby prosecuted for it. The obsession with this world became a founding principle in Harridan Vodka.

I got the chance to talk to her about this year’s Paranormal Reserve and possible future haunted locations.

Amber Love Bond: So this isn’t the first year you’ve done a paranormal release, what inspired starting these special edition bottles?

Bridgette Taylor: Harridan is a brand deeply inspired by all things Occult, and as such, we have a natural affinity for Halloween. We knew we wanted to do something really unique for the holiday, and were kicking around ideas with a few of our creative partners. Eventually, they proposed “aging” bottles in haunted houses. As soon as we heard the idea, we knew we had to run with it. I am personally a horror movie fanatic, and I couldn’t think of a much cooler limited edition spirit than one that represented a little piece of horror history.

ALB: How do you pick the locations where the Paranormal Reserves will rest?

BT: We have a short list of the most haunted locations in America, and those are the sites that we prioritize. The Occult Museum in particular is famous not only for its ties to Ed and Lorraine Warren, but also for its housing of Annabelle. We approached the museum team as a total moonshot, but the museum proprietor, Tony Spera, was incredibly receptive to working with us. He ultimately gave us more access to Annabelle and the rest of the museum than we could have ever hoped for.

ALB: Have you had any customers who bought last year’s edition discover any supernatural happenings possibly related to their Paranormal Reserve?

BT: We have had customers report unexplained happenings while in the presence of the Paranormal Reserve bottles. One woman reported hearing loud knocking on her hotel room door (while having a séance with one of last year’s bottles rested in The Conjuring House). When she opened the door, no one was there. We also had a bottle inexplicably returned last year, from someone who no longer wanted it in their possession. I personally have been housing bottle 666 from this year’s reserve in my apartment, and I can report my television turning on by itself and pictures falling out of picture frames.

ALB: Personally, Robert The Doll in Key West, FL is my favorite (i.e. the scariest) haunted doll — any plans to include him in these releases someday? Or do you have a dream (or nightmare haha) partnership you’d love to make happen?

BT: I LOVE the Robert the Doll story, and agree that he (or “it”?!) is absolutely terrifying. Let’s just say that the Fort East Martello Museum is definitely on that haunted short list that we mentioned. If dreams/nightmares do come true, the Harridan team will have to learn all the rules about interacting with him (similar to the extensive preparation we did for Annabelle). I’m scared of accidentally looking him in the eye and then never leaving Key West!
