The personality traits of a Scorpio – including being resourceful, dedicated and fearless

Scorpios’ star sign dates are between October 23rd and November 21st, and belong to the Water sign of the zodiac (along with Cancer and Pisces), often nicknamed Halloween’s children.

As a Water sign, Scorpios  experience, express, and confront their emotions.  If you know a Scorpio, you can bet your bottom dollar they are strong-headed, often sometimes even misunderstood due to their tendency to be quite intense at times.

They are known to delve deeply into research to uncover the truth behind issues that are deemed important to them. Scorpios are great natural leaders and guides who are resourceful, dedicated and fearless when faced with challenges and obstacles. They are known to keep other people’s secrets even if they don’t particularly like the person.

While they might be quite full-on characters, they do crave intimacy. They have a powerful, confident presence and demanding personalities, and their penchant for mystery is what makes them one of the most interesting signs.

They are, because of their planetary ruler Pluto, drawn to the outliers of human experience. Unafraid of risks, they can sometimes find themselves on dangerous paths in life. Celebrities with the Scorpio star sign include the likes of Willow Smith, Kendall Jenner, Katy Perry, Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds.

So, what are the personality traits of a Scorpio? Here’s everything you need to know.

Typical Scorpio personality traits

Intense

Make friends with a Scorpio and this won’t be a light relationship – they will want to find out everything about you, even if they don’t give much away about themselves. They are highly passionate beings and very physical. Sometimes this trait can come across as controlling but it’s more their way of showing you protection and loyalty, even if it’s a bit OTT.

Ambitious

If a Scorpio wants something, they will get it. When they get going, there really is no stopping them. They have an envy-inducing amount of confidence and will go after what they think is theirs and thrive on competition. With a quick-thinking attitude, they can face whatever challenges arise.

Secretive

Scorpios rarely show their cards. They are incredibly honest, but they don’t like to display any signs of weakness or vulnerability, especially with people they’re unsure about. They tend to keep their feelings to themselves, as well as plans and ideas, often making them tricky to work with.

Honest

Scorpios are incredibly honest and always strive to tell the truth, no matter what, and hate dishonesty in others. They don’t have much time for those who steal or cheat.

Scorpio compatibility – who gets on best with a Scorpio?

Aries and Scorpio share a planetary influence but since it’s Mars, it can be quite unpredictable – so Aries and Scorpio can either be the best of mates or true enemies.

The Water sign trio, that’s Scorpio, Cancer and Pisces, have a bit of understanding about each other’s moods and intensities so they often get along pretty well.

Romantically, Scorpio is a great match for a Taurus. Both are often very physical, intense and adventurous.

Personality traits that Scorpio avoids

Weak characters

Scorpio is quite an Alpha star sign so doesn’t have much time for those who don’t share their strong traits and opinions especially those without a backbone.

Disloyalty

As we mentioned, Scorpios are big on honesty and the truth and are not into those who don’t share that trait or speak behind their backs. If you’ve got something negative to say, you may want to withhold this from a Scorpio until they are in a more mellow mood (ie, never).
