Awards season 2023 is in full swing, and the stars showed up and showed out on the red carpet for the 29th annual SAG Awards on February 26.
The winners of the industry-focused Screen Actors Guild Awards usually offer a glimpse into who might get snubbed and who could pull out an upset win at the Oscars, but right now, we’re mostly here for the fashion. In the category of best dressed, we saw standout looks from many of the usual suspects, including Zendaya in baby pink floral Valentino, Jessica Chastain rocking stunning Gucci jewels, and Amanda Seyfried wearing a distinctly ’60s-inspired Prada minidress and on-theme bouffant hair.
Wednesday star Jenna Ortega continued with her signature gothic glam, too, in a strapless Versace black gown with a dramatic high-low hemline, teamed with Tiffany diamond jewellery. The vintage leather dress is a 1994 vintage piece, sourced by her stylist Enrique Melendez and altered slightly for its 2023 appearance – the original one-strap neckline was removed to give Jenna a bustier silhouette.
But bold colours and metallics were definitely the dominant trends of the evening. Angela Bassett, Viola Davis, and Claire Foy, for instance, all opted for gowns in bright, canary yellow hues, while Jessica Chastain and Ariana DeBose dressed in vibrant magenta. Aubrey Plaza and Julia Garner shimmered in regal metallic gold and red dresses.
