The San Regis : A Confidential Property In The Heart Of Paris

0

For half a century, the San Regis has been a favorite of the fashion and Hollywood scene thanks to Carmel Snow, the influential editor in chief of Harper’s Bazaar US from the thirties to the fifties who hired Diana Vreeland and who in 1947 pronounced the words “New Look” referring to Christian Dior collection ; she was a regular in the hotel. The reputation of this discreet hotel became international and hosted American Lauren Bacall, Gene Kelly or Jacqueline Bisset and Romy Schneider.

In 1984, Elie Georges, art lover and collector bought the property and made it a 5 star hotel with his two brothers. Today, the family-run hotel is owned and managed by Sarah and Zeina Georges, his two daughters. The elegant neoclassical façade invites guests to a Parisian, warm and cozy atmosphere. Far away from the bustle of the city, here you can disconnect, relax, and feel like in a private residence.

The property was closed for many years for renovation. George’s sisters have been working with architect Aude Gros-Rosanvallon who trained with well known Pierre Yves Rochon – the one behind The Four Seasons George V or The Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat. The San Regis offers 30 rooms and 12 suites, each one having its unique decor. Inside, Louis XV or Louis XVI furniture is mixed with antique personal art collection and modern touches of design. The rooms are in the shades of blue, yellow gold or red. Precious Pierre Frey or Lelievre fabrics, toile de Jouy, narrow corridors, crystals, a marble-lined lobby with its spectacular bronze Art Deco chandelier designed by Delisle, a French old art maison iron maker. Created in 1895, this intimate hotel celebrates French craftsmenship and “savoir faire” beautifully. The decor is bourgeois but not ostentatious.

Very well situated in the 8th arrondissement, at 12 rue Jean Goujon, between Place Francois Ier and Le Grand Palais, the San Regis enjoys a very quiet location in the heart of the busy Triangle D’or. Close to Avenue Montaigne, Les Champs Elysées for those who love shopping and Le Grand Palais and Petit Palais for those who love arts, and so much more.

Even though the hotel is not equipped with a spa and fitness gym, the concierge will recommend you some of the best jogging routes on the river scene or in the Tuileries garden. Note, Les Confidences, the hotel’s restaurant is like a garden nestled under a vast glass atrium roof. Green tones, dark wood, mirrors, living plant walls, trompe l’oeil garden, porcelain and silky fabrics create an intimate atmosphere for a business lunch or an intimate dinner. Products are locally sourced and the menu varies with the seasons. Part of Small Luxury Hotels Of the World and featured in the Forbes Travel Guide this year, this discreet property is a great place to experience in the heart of Paris.
