The Sims 4 High School Years Expansion Releasing This Month

The Sims 4 is getting another expansion, High School Years is set to release on July 28. 

High School Years is the latest expansion pack for the 2014 title. The Sims 4 differentiates between expansion packs, which are larger, and game packs, which are smaller. High School Years is the twelfth expansion pack for the game, while there are also twelve game packs released, including the recent Werewolves pack. 

As the name would suggest, High School Years will centre around your Sims’ high school experience. The expansion looks to be geared towards recreating the American high school experience, specifically. Judging from the expansion trailer, this will bring with it all the highs and lows of high school life including prom, extra-curriculars, academics and social anxiety. 

The setting of High School Years is the prototypical Copperdale High. The trailer showcases some of the locations the expansion will bring, the hallways of the high school, the sports fields, a fair complete with a Ferris wheel and a new Boba tea place. 

Lead producer on the expansion, George Pigula, gave the following statement regarding High School Years:

“Sims will learn to juggle school and extracurricular events, form lifelong friends, and experience big moments like prom. They can even develop their own fashion likes & dislikes with the new Trendi app with clothes designed by Depop sellers. High school is an incredibly formative time, and we wanted to give players the chance to create and customize their own, personalized high school experiences before their Sims reach young adulthood.”

You read that correctly, the expansion adds an in-game app with clothes designed by popular Depop designers like Selena Williams (Selenas Shop) and Bella McFadden (iGirl). Between this and the boba, this may be the quintessential current year video game adaptation. 

The Sims 4 High School Years will be released July 28 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Xbox One.
