DID you know that Scotland is home to the world’s shortest street? Well you do now.
And to celebrate it’s uniqueness the hotel that sits on the 2.06m or 6ft 9in iconic plot is holding their very first talent show.
Ebenezer Place in Wick, Caithness, was recognised by the Guinness Book of Records in 2006, displacing the previous record holder, Elgin Street in Bacup, Lancashire, England which is a huge, in comparison, 5.2 metres long (17 ft).
Family-run Mackays Hotel, whose entrance to their No1 Bistro the only address on Ebenezer Place, will hold their talent comp on August 20, with people from across the region and beyond expected to gather.
Pipers, violinists, highland dancers and majorette dancers will be among the local talent lining up to take part in the showcase event on the tiny street, which is located by the river Wick and Wick harbour.
Visitors will also get the chance to meet a special collection of creatures from North Coast Animal Farm Time in nearby Lybster.

The ‘Talent on the Shortest Street’ showcase event is being hosted by Murray and Ellie Lamont, the current owners of Mackays, an award-winning hotel on the world-famous North Coast 500.
Murray said: “Mackays Hotel is an integral part of local community life here in Caithness and is located on the world’s shortest street, so we’re super excited to be hosting our first local community talent showcase event.
“We’re expecting hundreds of people from Wick and across the region to gather and show everyone what Caithness has to offer.
“We will be serving lunches on the day and have entertainment covered for the afternoon, so all we need now is for the weather to be on our side. We also hope that our inaugural ‘Talent on the Shortest Street’ event will be the first of many to come.”
Ebenezer Place originated in 1883, when Alexander Sinclair constructed a building there.
The council ordered him to display a name on the shortest side of the building, as they deemed it a street and Ebenezer Place came into being. It was officially declared a street in 1887.
