The Summer Solstice is upon us and here’s how you can use it to change your life

The Summer Solstice is upon us and as with anything astrological, it’s the perfect opportunity to hit refresh.

The solstice falls on June 21st and according to Olga Ramora, founder of Moonly app, it opens an active period for development and ‘sowing’ so that in December, at the Winter Solstice, the seeds you’ve sown now can be turned into material results.

‌”June 21st activates the Gemini period, represented in learning, new acquaintances, teamwork, short trips, and entrepreneurial activities,” she explains. “Retrograde Saturn will pay attention to discipline, bringing back repetitive events to see how much we’ve learned to act progressively and wisely. Mars moving into Leo on June 30 will provide a lot of energy that will be supporting the brave and inspired individuals, wanting the best for themselves and others, for a month and a half.”

So, basically, it’s time to focus your efforts at work, on any budding business ideas and on fostering new friendships and relationships.

On Summer Solstice Day, Bella says it is beneficial to wear gold jewellery, yellow, sunny colours, and perform the Sun salutation practice at dawn. “On this day you can fill your body with solar energy to the fullest – spend time in nature and imagine how the parts of your body and psyche that need support now become warmer and stronger,” she suggests. She also advises practising self-confidence, gratitude and a positive attitude to life if you want good things to happen come the Winter Solstice on December 21st.

“On Summer Solstice day, inviting changes into your life is considered very auspicious. For example, you can make new acquaintances, plan a new project or try a new hobby. It’s also favourable to let go of resentment and the burden of the past and engage in liberating practices,” she adds.

So how can you make the most of the day? Olga recommends surrounding yourself with the sun. In the morning, you can do exercises or yoga as well as practice “Surya Namaskar”, literally translated as Sun Salutations. If you put your breakfast in the sunlight, it will be charged with positive energy. Put on bright clothes and spend more time outside if you feel like it. This day is favourable for creativity, hobbies and communication with loved ones.

Here are some rituals you can practise during the Solstice:‌

  1. Light candles to fill the space with the energy of light and fire.
  2. Be out in nature. Take a walk in the park, in the woods or by a pond. Stand in the sun, feeling how you are being filled with its living energy. In the summer, it is good to walk barefoot on the grass.
  3. Write what you want to eliminate from your life: problematic situations, beliefs, negative states, attachments and habits. Burn the paper with a candle’s flame, imagining it leaving your life.
  4. Make a wish. Write it down, visualise it in detail, feel the state as if it has already happened and hide that piece of paper. Let the thoughts about your wish go, allowing it to be fulfilled in the best possible way. You can mentally create an image of an ideal life. Meditation Ideal Future will help with this.
  5. Give thanks to life for all the good things you have and to yourself for your unique journey and accomplishments.

‌”Solstice is a great time to start keeping a gratitude journal. Try to live through the day in a calm, bright mood and avoid negative thoughts, resentments and quarrels. It is favourable to take a bath or shower and to carry out pleasant treatments to relax. Depending on your mood, you can stay in solitude or gather in a warm circle of family and friends,” she adds.
