When you think of Taurus traits, you probably think one thing: stubborn. And while, yes, this can be a typical Taurus personality trait, there is far more to this misunderstood zodiac sign than you might think.

The second of the 12 astrological signs, Taurus is an earth sign represented by the bull constellation, hence Taureans are often referred to as ‘bulls’.

A Taurus is anyone with a birthday between 20th April and 20th May. The sign that precedes Taurus is Aries (20th March – 19th April) and the sign that follows is Gemini (21st May – 20th June).

Sensual

Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet that governs love, beauty and money, so it comes as no surprise that Taurus is the most sensual star sign. Taureans are incredibly physical and pleasure-oriented, both with other people and with material objects. So, sex, shopping, eating, drinking and general luxuriating. Does this taste for the finer things make Taurus a bit materialistic and greedy? Perhaps. But it also means they’re very in tune with their wants and needs – and they’re not afraid to say it. Kudos.

Chilled

Taureans enjoy life in the slow lane, and while this could be construed as lazy or even rude (particularly when they’re late for drinks for the fifth time in a row), it’s just down to their calm, contemplative nature. They just don’t sweat the small stuff, and it’s the time away from the daily grind that really means the most to them. Really, they’d spend all day blissing out in a spa or a bubble bath with a good book if they could. Or actually, just doing nothing sounds pretty good to our Taurus.

But their slow-burning energy doesn’t mean Tauruses aren’t diligent with their work, once they get started. In fact, when they do hustle, they hustle hard. Typical Taureans are determined and consistent, and work hard on any project to completion, no matter how long it takes.

Loyal (but stubborn)

Yet this is where Taurus’s reputation for stubbornness comes in. Taurus is a fixed sign – zodiac signs are divided into three modalities: cardinal; fixed and mutable – and fixed signs are the ‘stabilisers’, reliable and creatures of habit. This means that Taureans are steadfast and very set in their ways, and their love of stability and security means that they’re slow to change their minds, switch course or accept new ideas. But while they’re often immovable, Taureans make the best partners – they’re dependable, loyal and will always be there for their loved ones with affection, devotion and a kind word.

When it comes to star sign compatibility, Tauruses are naturally compatible with other Tauruses, who will understand their need for love, affection and gifts. Their stubbornness will likely cause them to clash but for the most part, a Taurus-on-Taurus love affair is a match made in heaven.
