The Tinder Swindler’s bodyguard is suing Netflix over the explosive documentary

As the scandal from Netflix documentary The Tinder Swindler continues to unfold, yet another outraged party has spoken out. 

Simon Leviev –aka Shimon Yehuda Hayut, the alleged swindler himself – isn’t the only person featured in the doc who has something to say about how he was portrayed. His bodyguard, Peter, intends to sue Netflix, and has hit back through his lawyer about the way the documentary has been handled and the way it makes him look.

Speaking to LADbible, Peter’s lawyer Joanna Parafianowicz has stated that Netflix didn’t reach out and speak to Peter ahead of The Tinder Swindler being made.

“No one has the right to deprive a person of basic rights, such as the right to image and the right to the protection of personal data,” she says. “The movie doesn’t tell my client’s story, and it must be underlined – no charges have been ever brought against him regarding this case.

“He’s never been involved in Simon’s businesses. However, by many viewers he’s being associated with Simon Leviev’s behaviour. Netflix’s production neither have asked my client for permission to publish his image nor for his comment on the case.”

She adds that the notoriety that the documentary has found has already had an impact on Peter’s privacy. 

“As a result of the unexpected movie publication and its immediate popularity, my client lost anonymity within just one day, the ability to work as a bodyguard, probably forever, as well as his reputation,” she says.

“Peter is in a bad mental state now. We both believe that even such a giant like Netflix cannot violate basic human rights.”

More drama is likely coming from the controversial documentary, also. Before deleting his Instagram completely, Hayut posted about his intentions to set the record straight.

“I will share my side of the story in the next few days when I have sorted out the best and most respectful way to tell it, both to the involved parties and myself,” he posted. “Until then, please keep an open mind and heart.”
