It can be bewildering to decide what to include on a trip to Europe but it’s always helpful to use the ratings and rankings of travelers who have taken the tour, drunk the wine and made the pasta.
Tour company Viator has released data of its top ranked and visited sites across the continent, which might help you decide whether to visit a Vampire castle, the Normandy beach landing sites or take a walking tour of Dublin’s scary past over a vespa ride in Rome.
Top 10 Experiences in Northern Europe
Viator’s top ten experiences in northern European countries are all based in England, Ireland and Iceland. In Britain and Ireland, many are walking tours designed to scare, such as the Ghost Tour in York or the winner, the guide to Dark Dublin which offers an exploration of ‘Dublin’s gruesome stories of murder, torture, cannibalism, grave robbing, brothels, proposals to eat young children, and unearthly worship’.
The tours in Reykjavik focus more on the dramatic scenery and the food, where almost 8,000 people voted positively for the Reykjavik Food Walk that takes in the local history and the city’s food trucks.
