According to new data, Calderdale in West Yorkshire has the most dangerous drivers in all of the UK. Motoring experts at A-Plan insurance looked at Government data to find out which UK areas have the highest percentage of drivers who have committed an offence in the past.
Some 29,634 drivers broke the law out of 346,201 registered motorists, accounting for 8.56 percent.
The top three are completed by Bradford where just over 34,000 committed an offence, resulting in a percentage of 8.4.
Leeds is situated in fourth place, with the UK’s third largest city seeing 48,666 drivers breaking the law.
Rounding off the top five is Telford and Wreckin in Shropshire with 12,000 offending drivers accounting for 8.02 percent.
At the other end of the table is Mansfield sitting in 10th place with 5,645 offending drivers accounting for 7.55 percent.
Commenting on the figures, a spokesperson for A-Plan Insurance said: “This analysis highlights the geographical disparities of safe driving practices across the UK.
“The ability to drive is a privilege that allows a person the ease of access from point A to point B, but many people each year commit an offence that can land them one step closer to losing their license.
“Drivers and pedestrians of these areas need to be extra careful as the chances of offences occur at a much higher rate.

“Not only is there a risk to safety, but a risk of incurring damages that may affect your insurance.
“Penalty points will be shown on your driving license for 11 years and having these is likely to increase the cost of your car insurance as well as reducing the number of premium options available to you.
“Ways in which to help reduce the cost of your car insurance in these circumstances include considering a black box, shopping around to compare the best prices and keeping your car parked off road if possible.”
