Undershadow might just be the best way to elevate what could be a basic or everyday eye look instantly, and we’re to tell you all about it.

Having a good eyeshadow game is something many people and beauty lovers dream of. It can be a hard skill to master. Eye makeup involves playing with different colours and textures and blending till’ the hairs of your makeup brush fall off, and getting really good at it is not for the faint-hearted. Luckily for you and us, there are cheats and hacks to make what could be a basic eye look feel extravagant and mega fun instantly. Here enters the undershadow.

Undershadow is the shy sister to the under-eye makeup trend that was dominating the beauty corner of our social media feeds, but the evil twin to the smokey eyeshadow. In fact, the main difference between a smokey eye and an undershadow is that instead of that classic dark smudging on the undereye, you have an electric pop of colour that brings all the attention to the eye area without requiring an expert-level blending skill set.

Here is what you’ll need:

To be able to achieve this boldest and most iconic undershadow, the whole eye area must be well-prepped and primed. Once you’ve prepped your skin, make sure to pick a lightweight concealer that doesn’t settle on under-eye lines and blend it in thoroughly. Set them with a setting or translucent powder to stop it from moving.

To balance the eye look, make sure to do a soft and subtle shadow look in the upper lids and draw on a long-winged liner.

You can even elongate your liner all the way to the inner corner of the eye and pull it out for that sultry cat eye finish. This will elongate the eyes and make the colour of your shadow pop even more. Then it’s the fun part. Pick a bold and pigmented eyeshadow colour and pat it on your under-eye line area using a thin eyeshadow brush but don’t run it too far down the eye area. You want the pigment to be concentrated in a line directly under your eye for more of a highlighter under-eyeliner finish.
