Just as the weather turns ever greyer and our outfits seem to be doing the same, the Uniqlo x Marni collaboration has dropped to bring comfort and joy – and a welcome dose of dopamine – to our shopping baskets.
This marks the second Uniqlo x Marni collection to date, following on from Summer’s Marni collection (which was an absolute dream, FYI). Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson’s current collections for Uniqlo are wholesome and country-inspired, while Mame Kurogouchi focuses on second skin lingerie and base layers that will form an excellent foundation for any outfit.
But Marni is the collection that had us pressing refresh on the site until the pieces dropped today. One on the fashion world’s most loved fashion brands, Marni was founded in 1994 and current creative director Francesco Risso follows the label’s individual DNA. The collections are always full of playful prints, surprising colour combinations and strong silhouettes – it’s quirky and artsy and the street style set adore it. The Uniqlo x Marni collaboration follows the same mood as the main line but mixes Marni’s signatures with Uniqlo’s clever innovations (and obviously greatly reduced prices – which we are here for). We don’t recommend you hang around if you spot something you like.
What are the pieces we’re *adding to basket*? Uniqlo’s genius HeatTech is a game-changer at keeping you warm in winter and now comes in an array of Marni’s graphic prints. The printed turtleneck is an excellent layering piece, as is the colour block long sleeved thermal top. There are also HeatTech thermal leggings (which come in verastile black, teal green and cornflower blue) and cute checked socks, which come in a useful set of two (and three quirky colourways.) Did somebody say stocking filler?
If you’re looking for gift ideas for sisters, best friends or mums, we’ve got you (check out our ultimate gift guide here) but we would also recommend the cashmere striped gloves as a cheerful present to receive. Or self-gift, ahem. Likewise the popcorn knitted balaclava would be a practical yet fashionpack-approved pressie for the trendsetter in your life. Other pieces we’ve fallen for are the super cosy puffa jacket which comes oversized with a practical water-repellent finish and the striped cashmere polo-neck which manages to feel festive but not kitsch. Layer it under a block colour knit for double dose of warmth and colourful cheer. Which are your favourite pieces?
