Understandably, the show’s return has folks questioning if the brand truly learned its lesson, and honestly, we’re siding with Lizzo here. Though the video she retweeted wasn’t an official promo for the upcoming show, it was a recent ad that gave a peek into what the lingerie brand defines as inclusivity: mostly thin models without a scar, blemish, or “imperfection” with two or three plus size models thrown into the mix — oh, and, of course, the plus-size models in question are on the smaller end and includes one of the most popular plus-size models at the moment, Paloma.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the brand promises to bring something entirely different this year. A spokesperson from the brand told The Hollywood Reporter that Victoria’s Secret is “always innovating and ideating in all spheres of the business to continue to put our customer at the center of all we do and reinforce our commitment to championing women’s voices and their unique perspectives.”
There is still some time before the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show returns to our screens at the end of the year, and like Lizzo, we will wait and see if the brand delivers.
