The Voice coaches rally together against bullying

Shaneel Chandra might not have turned the coaches’ chairs during his blind audition on The Voice, but his performance was one to remember for another reason.

All four superstar coaches joined him on stage in Monday’s episode after his performance of I Am A Disco Dancer by Vinjay Benedict, aimed at responding to those who have bullied him.

“I used to get bullied for it before and this is just basically what I wanted to show everyone, that I can perform. Here I am at The Voice Australia,” Chandra explained, prompting Guy Sebastian to hug him before asking him for a tutorial on his dance moves.

“You know what,” Rita Ora chimed in. “We don’t like bullies over here.”

“No. We don’t like bullies at all,” Jessica Mauboy added.

“So you know what we are going to do?” Ora said.

“Not only are you going to perform that, we are all going to perform it with you.”

Chandra’s family graced the stage with him alongside all four coaches and the Sydney star picked up the microphone again to receive a standing ovation from the crowd.

Although no chairs were turned, the coaches and audience were mesmerised by Chandra’s spirit.

“I think you’re absolutely exquisite, I love everything about you,” Mauboy said.

“Your foundation is superb, it’s just going to get greater, stronger with all of the experiences you’re going to get along the way. I think it’s just about practising who you are individually.

“Don’t let (the bullies) silence you okay? Don’t let them silence you.”

“You should be so proud,” Ora added.
