Following a spectacular performance during his first of two shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Sept. 2, R&B star The Weeknd abruptly stopped his set on Sept. 3 and canceled the concert after just three songs because he lost his voice.

He launched into “Can’t Feel My Face,” but cut it short and walked off stage. He returned to apologize to the fans inside the sold-out stadium, telling them, “I’m going to make sure everyone is good, you’ll get your money back … but I’ll do a show real soon for you guys,” he said with a raspy voice in several fan videos that were posted to various social media sites.

The 32-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter, whose birth name is Abel Tesfaye, later released a statement on his own social media platforms fully explaining the situation. “My voice went out during the first song and I’m devastated. Felt it go and my heart dropped.  My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date.”
