The World’s Best Airlines For 2022

0

Regardless of whether you turn left or right after entering an aircraft, some airlines offer an experience that is much better than others. AirlineRatings.com has just named the Airline of the Year 2022 and Qatar Airways won the prestigious award. Here’s who else came up in the top 20 and what it takes to be that prestigious.

The focus is on two main areas. To be ranked highly, airlines must have a seven-star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort. Qatar Airways was ranked number 1 because of its “cabin innovation, passenger service, and its commitment to continue to operate throughout the COVID pandemic.”

The world’s top 20 best airlines, as outlined by AirlineRatings.com are:

  1. Qatar Airways
  2. Air New Zealand
  3. Etihad Airways
  4. Korean Air
  5. Singapore Airlines
  6. Qantas
  7. Virgin Australia
  8. EVA Air
  9. Turkish Airlines
  10. All Nippon Airways
  11. Cathay Pacific Airways
  12. Virgin Atlantic
  13. Japan Air Lines
  14. JetBlue
  15. Finnair
  16. Emirates
  17. Hawaiian
  18. Air France/KLM
  19. Alaska Airlines
  20. British Airways

AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas said that “we are focused on leadership and airlines that innovate to make a real difference to the passenger experience.” Thomas added, “of course right now the airline industry is under unprecedented pressure as it strives to recover from the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The U.K.’s Telegraph was in complete agreement with the number one spot being awarded to Qatar Airways. In a comparison with British Airways, for instance, Qatar never puts a foot wrong with its booking process (flights are held for 72 hours online before needing to be booked), and for those lucky enough to be in premium lounges, they offer spas, sleeping rooms and even pools, in some airports.

Qatar offers luxuriously-equipped long-haul planes (the Airbus A350 and A380, and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777-300ER) and from London, Qatar operates out of Terminal Four at Heathrow—because it is one of the smallest terminals, it means that security is easy and quick to navigate than other terminals used by other airlines.
