THE BEST airlines in the world have been revealed – and one from the UK made the list.
Research carried out by Skytrax, a company that rates air transport, revealed the world’s best airlines at an event in Paris earlier this week.
They independently analysed the performance of 325 of the biggest airlines in the world from September 2022 until May 2023.
In the rankings, Singapore Airlines took the top spot, scoring highly for its First Class cabin.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways, which was number one last year, dropped down to second place.
Despite losing a place, Qatar did bag another award for its best business class offering.
Japanese airline, All Nippon Airways, took third place, and it was also dubbed the world’s cleanest airline by the judges.
Also in the top 10 were Emirates, Air France, Turkish Airlines, and Cathay Pacific, while Kuwait Airways was named the most improved airline.
There was only one UK entry on the list, British Airways.
The UK’s flag carrier came in at 18th place, dropping seven places from the previous year.
Edward Plaisted of Skytrax said: “It is a fabulous achievement for Singapore Airlines to achieve this World’s Best Airline title for 2023.
“Singapore Airlines achieved excellent results in many of the award categories, with the highlight being recognition of their First Class cabin as the World’s Best First Class.
“We congratulate Singapore Airlines on this success which should be a source of great pride and satisfaction for the airline management and staff.”
We’ve also revealed the best airlines if you are traveling with young kids.
Meanwhile, a frequent flyer has revealed the two mistakes you are making when your flight is cancelled.
Benét Wilson said she flies as much as 50 times a year as part of her job as a writer, adding the “absolute worst time to travel” is during the holidays.
For holidaymakers who don’t travel as often, she recommended downloading the airline’s app to receive any crucial updates.
She also encouraged passengers to be polite to airline staff – especially when flights are delayed or cancelled.
