The world’s biggest cruise ships – list

0

Cruise ships are getting bigger all the time and the world’s biggest ship is longer than the Shard lying down.

Currently, the five biggest ships in the world are under the Royal Caribbean brand, with 2022’s Wonder of the Seas topping the list.

The brand is set to break its own record in 2024, with the launch of the mammoth Icon of the Seas.

Icon of the Seas is expected to hit the water in 2024 with its first cruise due to launch from Miami.

The whopping ship will have 20 decks with seven swimming pools and the first suspended infinity pool at sea.

Wonder of the Seas is 362m long and can carry a maximum of 7,084 passengers across 2,867 staterooms.

The ship has eight unique neighbourhoods, whirlpools and water slides and a huge aqua theatre.

Wonder of the Seas even has its own park and a jogging track for guests who want to work off a heavy dinner.

Although the ship is the world’s largest by tonnage, Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas is actually the world’s longest cruise ship.

Harmony of the Seas hit the headlines when it collided with a jetty in Jamaica but luckily there were no injuries and only minimal damage in the incident.

Although bigger might always be better for some cruise guests, the world’s largest ships might not be the best choice for every passenger.

Some ports have size limits on cruise ships so guests who want to spend as much time as possible in a destination could benefit from choosing a smaller vessel.
