Expats usually choose to move for better career opportunities, a better lifestyle or healthcare.

Unfortunately things don’t always work out and expats might find they don’t love their new home.

New research from the expert team at Expat Insider found the worst country in the world for expats was Kuwait.

Expats in the Middle Eastern country didn’t rate the quality of life highly with half saying they didn’t feel able to express themselves openly.

Healthcare was also poorly rated with expats saying the availability, cost and quality all left a lot to be desired.

More than one in three expats found it hard to get used to the local culture in Kuwait while under 40 percent were happy with their social life.

Three in 10 expats in Kuwait felt they weren’t paid fairly for their work while 45 percent said the local work culture didn’t support flexibility.

Although expats didn’t find it hard to find housing, only 43 percent of expats felt happy in Kuwait.

Kuwait borders Iraq and Saudi Arabia and has a population of around 4.2 million people. The economy is dominated by the oil industry.

Norway was rated the worst country in Europe for British expats with many slamming the country’s leisure options.

Turkey also fared badly in the rankings while South Korea and Germany rounded off the worst five.
