A THEME park expert has revealed the big mistakes that people make when they go to Alton Towers.

The park in Staffordshire is the biggest in the UK, so it’s easy to get things wrong, particularly if it’s your first visit.

However, Tiktoker and theme park expert Coaster Toaster (@coaster__toaster) has revealed his best tips for making the most out of a trip to the resort.

In the video, he first explains which order to ride the rollercoasters in to help people avoid the queues.

He said: “Riding the Smiler, Wicker Man and Spinball Whizzer first. Don’t do this.

“The rides are close to the entrance and experience their biggest queues at the start of the day.

“Instead, head to the back of the park and try 13 and Rita before heading down to ride Galactica.”

Next, Coaster Toaster recommends avoiding a Saturday visit if possible.

Instead, he suggests going during the week, or on a Sunday when it’s not as busy.

He continued: “I know sometimes it’s unavoidable, but Saturdays are the busiest days.

“If you can, try and visit on a weekday, and if you must visit on a weekend, try a Sunday instead.”

Finally, the Tiktoker told people to get to the park as early as possible and to avoid arriving late.

Anyone not there as early as possibly will almost definitely end up getting stuck in more queues.

He explained: “Alton Towers is a huge theme park, and it can easily take over half an hour from driving through the gates to actually getting inside.

“The park opens at ten, and that’s usually when it’s quietest, so aim to drive in around 9.15 to 9.30.”

Other people make the mistake of insisting on sitting at the front of the rollercoaster every time they ride.

However, John Wardley, who is responsible for designing Alton Towers classics Oblivion, Air and Nemesis, claims the front isn’t always the best place to experience a ride.

He told Sun Online Travel: “You get a different type of ride whether you’re in the front or the middle or the back.

“Obviously sitting in the front you can see the the track ahead. Although of course it’s whizzing by very quickly so you don’t really orientate yourself to where you are.

“It’s the most disorientating journey at the front.”

Meanwhile, Alton Towers has brought back a popular ride that closed years ago this summer.

And Thorpe Park is opening their new Ghost Train ride this year.
