With the 2021 Income campaign about to start (this Wednesday), the Internet Security Office (OSI) has warned that there are
a new scam on the Internet that supplants the Treasury and the Tax Agency using the campaign as a hook to capture the attention of the victims.
They warn from a note that «a campaign of
fraudulent emails, known as ‘phishing’, supplanting the Tax Agency». They also add that these emails send an alleged “digital tax receipt” under the name of the “Ministry of Finance and Public Function”, which the affected user has to return.
All those who receive the email and download the attached document will be downloading a virus (malware) to their computer or device that will steal their personal and bank details. It is for this reason that OSi asks for a lot of caution.
They also warn from the OSI that
“Inside the mail, the user is informed that he has certain documentation pending presentation.enter, with a date before the current one, urging you to click on a link to download a tax receipt. Also, an image of the supposed documentation with a download link is included.
In case of having received this fraudulent message, the authorities advise
delete the email before opening it. When in doubt about deleting an email that really belongs to the Tax Agency, they recommend checking if the shipping address matches the official one
