With just one game to go in the season, Dortmund are on the verge of winning the title as a win in the final league match will ensure that.
Dortmund will be up against DC Mainz on the final day, and if they win the title, it will be Dortmund’s first league title in 11 seasons. Bayern this season have looked underwhelming whereas Dortmund have roared back in fantastic fashion as they are on the verge of winning the title.
With Bayern in tatters and in transition, Dortmund have cashed on and have looked like a better team at the moment. But does it mean a power shift in Germany? Former Borussia Dortmund player Paul Lambert doesn’t think so.
Lambert, who has worked as the manager of English Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers, played for Dortmund back in the 1996-97 season. Despite being ecstatic about his former club’s potential glory, he feels overcoming Bayern won’t be that easy.
“I don’t think Bayern will settle. They will try to come back stronger. They will be aiming to win the league title against next season,” Lambert told to MyKhel.
But Lambert believes Dortmund is all about winning trophies and they have the appetite to do well in coming years.
“Borussia Dortmund will be hoping to bring good players. And when you join the club, you can realize what the club is all about. The club and the fans are all about winning trophies. They have really good players. The team is strong, they would love to bring in some more players and make some changes, but if they can win on Sunday, it will be special,” Lambert added.
He also believes winning the league title will make Dortmund one of the most special places to play in Europe next season.
