Thierry Mugler has sadly died at the age of 73. The iconic French fashion designer dressed the likes of Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, George Michael, David Bowie and Lady Gaga, with his designs recognised across the world.
His passing was confirmed on Mugler’s official Instagram page on Sunday night.
Alongside a black and white photo of the fashion legend, the caption read: “It’s with deep sadness that the House of Mugler announces the passing of Mr Manfred Thierry Mugler.
“A visionary whose imagination as a couturier, perfumer and image-maker, empowered people around the world to be bolder and dream bigger everyday.”
His own personal page, which boasted 606K followers also paid tribute to Mugler.

“#RIP We are devastated to announce the passing of Mr Manfred Thierry Mugler on Sunday January 23rd 2022,” said the caption, which was posted next to a blank black image.
“May his soul Rest In Peace.”
So far, no cause of death is known.
Mugler rose to fame in the 1980s and early 90s, with his designs used everywhere from the runway to stage shows.
Despite retiring from his brand, he made a brief return to design under his name House of Mugler, for the Met gala in 2019.
Here he styled his good friend Kim Kardashian, in her memorable wet couture dress.
Following the news of his unexpected death, tributes began to pour in from fans who enjoyed his designs, to celebrities who had the pleasure of working with him.
Among those to comment on the announcement on the Instagram page was fashion model Georgia May Jagger, the newest face of his signature scent, Angel.
She wrote: “I cannot believe this is true sending love to you all. Thierry was a force of creativity and kindness.”
Runway model Bella Hadid, also wrote: “Nonononono,” followed by a sad face emoji.
Other fans rushed to social media to share their condolences and celebrate his work.
“So sorry to hear about the passing of Thierry Mugler. I know he inspired so many in the fashion world and will be greatly missed,” one penned.
Another added: “Rest easy to manfred thierry mugler, one of the greatest fashion designers of all time. His impact on the fashion industry will continue to live on forever.”
