Turks and Caicos has plenty of diverse active-adventure activities to be had including ATV tours, which is a unique way to explore the various terrain and beaches. Or spend a day Kiteboarding, which has become one of the most popular watersports in Turks and Caicos, with many small businesses like TCI Kiteboarding and Kite Provo that offer both lessons and rentals. Other water activities include wakeboarding, tubing, sub-winging, and cliff jumping, as well as jet skis and paddle board rentals. Island Vibes offers parasailing, tubing, and catamaran tours.
For Nature Lovers
Turks and Caicos offers world-class scuba diving.
For the nature lover, you’ve come to the right place to explore some of the best marine life in the world. Snorkeling and scuba diving is easy to arrange (Dive Provo and Big Blue Collective) and you’ll be able to get an up-close look at coral and sea life. On land, nature lovers can check out Little Water Cay, which is locally known as ‘Iguana Island’ and home to some of the remaining Rock Iguanas that once covered most of the islands, or explore the Conch Bar Caves of Middle Caicos, the largest dry cave system in the Bahamas-Turks and Caicos Island chain and a Turks and Caicos national park.
For the History Buffs
There are plenty of activities both in and out of the water.
The Turks and Caicos Islands are home to centuries of deep-rooted stories. History buffs can spend the day at the Turks and Caicos National Museum which was established after the discovery of the Molasses Reef Wreck, the oldest found European shipwreck in the Americas.
For Foodies
There are plenty of great restaurants on the islands.
From fine dining to authentic beachfront restaurants, there are plenty of options for cuisine. Coco Bistro offers a fresh, fine dining experience amidst the largest palm grove on Grace Bay. For the island’s famous conch, make your way over to the beachfront restaurant, Da Conch Shack, and enjoy fresh seafood, ribs, chicken, and steak with an island flare. The Thursday night Island Fish Fry is the most sought-after weekly event on the Islands and includes local restaurants from all corners of the Island, a new live band each week, and cultural acts and performances throughout the evening.
Where to stay
There are plenty of resorts, hotels and boutique accommodations on the islands.
Point Grace targets luxury travelers. Unlike a lot of the large hotels on the island, this boutique property has only 28 rooms and focuses on one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom suites. A big draw is the Thalasso Spa.
The Rock House is one of the newest properties to open in Turks and Caicos. It’s located on the north coast of Providenciales on 14 acres of oceanfront. The 46 rooms range from poolside studios to spacious two-bedroom oceanfront homes.
Grace Bay Resorts has a unique concept with three distinct areas: the adults-only section, The Hotel; the family-friendly section, The Villas Suites; and the luxe resort within a resort, The Estate.
East Bay Resort located on the island of South Caicos, one of the sister islands, is an all-inclusive resort that offers valet diving services through Reef Divers South Caicos. Divers meet with an instructor to create an itinerary depending on their interest level: wall diving, marine life, shallow dives, overheads, or formations. The company provides all the gear and rinses, dries and stores everything after each dive, so it’s ready to go for the next excursion. Diving possibilities include the Admiral Cockburn National Park, the dramatic walls of Grand Turk as well the coral reefs of East Caicos. There are over 25 dive sites in this area. Divers have a chance of seeing a variety of marine life including sharks, turtles, rays, eels and large schools of fish.
