This Charleston Hotel Will Help Write Your Love Story

On the cusp of Valentine’s Day, Charleston’s HarbourView Inn has unveiled a new package that might just be the most romantic ever. Dubbed “A Timeless Romance to Remember” experience, guests meet with a local romance writer to pen a story or poem based on their own love journey or assist with composing wedding vows.  

Yes, as part of the trip, you meet with a Charleston-based romance writer to recount your own relationship journey, which is then transcribed and immortalized as a keepsake story or poem. In addition, a one-on-one vow consultation is also available for those seeking to express their affection on their wedding day expertly. These private sessions allow the writer to walk alongside couples down memory lane, so the writer can best recount their tale. 

“Lovebirds who book ‘A Timeless Romance to Remember’ can revisit the happiest days of their lives with a cherished memento, or compose heartfelt expressions for their wedding day with the vow writing consultation,” Mark Henry, general manager of HarbourView Inn, told me. “After meeting with an expert romance writer, guests can utilize the package’s leather journal offering to pen their own story for a truly personal touch.”

The unique package is an add-on to the ever-popular “The Notebook”-themed “Allie & Noah’s Timeless Romance” package, including other romantic experiences and highlights filming locations. So, what does that include exactly?

Well, as part of that offering, you get a two-night stay, a dozen roses in your room, rose petal turndown service with a bottle of sparkling wine, a private carriage ride for two with a romantic saying displayed on the American Theater’s (where the movie was filmed) marquee. Plus, it comes with two tickets with private transportation to Boone Hall Plantation (which served as Allie’s home in the movie).

But, that’s not all. You also get admission for two to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens and the Audubon Swamp Garden tour, a $100 dining gift card to High Cotton (where Noah saw Allie with her new man), and a $25 gift card to Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream (where Allie smushed ice cream into Noah’s face). 

The romance story add-on was inspired by the love story Noah reads to Allie throughout the classic film. So, you get everything from the Allie and Noah package plus the private consultation with the romance writer. Your session options include a love story or poem that involves a 30-minute consultation detailing your love journey, to be transcribed in a 1,000-word story or 1-page poem. Or, you can opt for a one-hour vow writing consultation to nail those “I dos.”
